Infrastructure rebuild in Hawke's Bay after Cyclone Gabrielle in February 2023. Damage to council roads and bridges alone was put at about $1.1b. Under the 2023 cost-sharing agreement the Crown offered around $556m toward recovery, within a wider $941m package. Works cover stopbanks, road and bridge rebuilds and managed-retreat buyouts.
