Foxton Solar Farm

A solar farm across approximately 400 hectares on Walls Road and Motuiti Road at Foxton, developed by Genesis Energy and connecting to the national grid. Genesis puts it at 220MWp, roughly 345 GWh a year, enough for about 47,000 homes, with around 100 jobs during construction. Lodged under the Fast-track Approvals Act on 23 February 2026 and granted approvals subject to conditions on 14 August 2026, the eighth renewable energy project approved under the Act. The decision can be appealed to the High Court on questions of law only. Genesis has not published a build cost, a final investment decision or a construction start date, so no figure is shown.
