Dunedin Performing Arts: Redevelopment

A long-running question over Dunedin's main performing-arts venue. Since the Fortune Theatre closed in 2018 the City Council and Creative NZ have weighed upgrading existing theatres, the Playhouse, Athenaeum and Mayfair, against a new 330-seat centre estimated at about $28m. The Council has about $17m budgeted across its 10-year plan. No scope, site or funding is confirmed.
